Soak the apples and limes in the wine in a bowl overnight, covered with cling wrap. Strain.
To make the infusion, simply add 1/2 ounce dried lemon balm + 2 TBSP dried hibiscus flowers in a 1-liter mason jar. Add boiling water to the top, let sit overnight, then strain.
Add the infusion to the wine with the rest of the ingredients, adding in sweetener to taste.
Chill. Serve in a wine glass with a slice of lemon or lime over ice, if desired. To each glass, you can add the tincture of your choice (e.g. dandelion root for digestion, motherwort for menstrual issues, wormwood for parasites) for medicinal benefits (completely optional, of course :)).
This is a highly cooling recipe, as aloe vera and hibiscus have cooling properties. Lemon balm is a spicy and warming herb, which helps to add a lemony taste.
I mentioned adding in the medicinal tincture as an added benefit, as I tried this using tinctures for digestion, for menstrual cramps and for parasites (at different times, of course!). Those tinctures were all bitter herbs, yet were pleasantly covered by the taste of the sangria :)
Note that this recipe is SUF if stevia is used to sweeten it. I have not added the label YF as wine is not recommended for those avoiding yeast (e.g. for those with candida).
As always, Enjoy :)
