Where the Heart is...

i am at her feet

Howdy There!

So you've gone and found my personal website, huh, and are now perusing the tiny "home" on the web of Cat Wilson? Yeppers, that would be my name!

Like many among us, I wear many hats. We each have our own talents, you know, and it would seem that we gravitate towards them almost intuitively. That's another way of saying the heart knows best, FYI :)

Sadly, I can't say that I've always listened to the inner wisdom and whisperings of my heart, but after many whollops on the head by the powers that be, I found myself at the heart's feet time and time again. That's short for let go, compassion, humility, humbleness, kindness, etc., etc.,--- essentially kicking your a** every day in meditation.
Well, the mirror only reflects that which is, after all, and I alone am responsible for all the dramas (or lack thereof) in my life.

As you can already perhaps sense by my quirky way of writing, I was given the gift of the pen many moons ago, and have been penning short stories, poems, and what I call inspirational tidbits (much like what they call Timbits here in polar bear Canada --- no need to eat the whole donut when you can whet yourself from the center. P.S. stay there ;)).

Aside from writing, I've had an eye for design and fitness since my youngster days as a wee lassie (read: that tender age of 3 when mind made its 1st appearance); also when that wry-cherubic tendency called mischief-mongering seemed to be wont to follow me like an ever-laughable plague (sadly, my ego was and still won't stand for it, you know, when the finger is pointed at ego itself; alas, an ever-constant chagrin called "the work").

I've more than dabbled in psychology and mental health for over 25 years. Indeed, I decided that it was high time to share
my knowledge & experience on health, fitness, well-being, and the beyond with others. You know, someone who is interested in self-discovery and understanding who this "i" is beyond all the raucousness, noise and false pretenses of the ID world.

So, yep, if healthy veg-head recipes (don't worry, no fanaticism or screaming from the vegan pulpit here, just super healthy-nutty, plant-strong recipes), foraging recipes (ah yes, that would be a rather uncommon but oh-so-tremendous way of getting in viable nutrients), meditation techniques (with comments from the mind!), health advice, and inspirational stories and quotes are of interest to you, then this might be a place where you want to relax and let yourself be charmed from time to time.

Namaste.

ABOUT CAT'S RAW PAW

THIS WEBSITE IS ORGANIZED INTO SEVERAL BLOGS.

Cat's Corner is my personal blog. I tend to share mystical stories, short stories, and inspirational quotes.

Cat's Cuisine and Wild Q-zine offer allergen-friendly, vegan and vegetarian recipes. These are plant-strong recipes suitable for those seeking weight loss, watching sugar, watching salt, having gut issues, or are health-nutty like myself :) If you have IBS or Hashimoto's (hypothyroidism), you may find something that works for you, as my recipes do NOT contain garlic and onions and rarely contain soy or goitrogens.

ALL of the recipes are tagged with 10 "free-from this ingredient," and are labelled with acronyms, such as gluten-free (GF), grain-free (GRF) egg-free (EF) and sugar-free (SUF).

ALL of the recipes are gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, and meat-free.

The MAJORITY of the recipes are sugar-free, grain-free, corn-free, yeast-free, and salt-free.

Many of the recipes contain some form of fat, often with nuts and seeds, however reduced fat or nut/seed alternatives are usually offered.

Interesting & Unique About Cat's Cuisine

-Recipes do NOT contain garlic and onions (known culprits for those with IBS).

-Many recipes are suited for a satvic diet, meaning they are usually NOT spicy.

-Recipes are NEVER deep-fried.

-Baked goods where oil is used are often substituted with water, non-dairy milk or fruits (e.g., whole, puree, or concentrate).

-Recipes often do NOT contain salt. Baked goods do NOT contain baking powder or baking soda. Why not? The standard diet contains enough salt already. 1 tsp Maximum is the daily RDA. Also, gluten-free goods don't rise much, and the chemistry of adding baking powder/salt is not necessary.

-Recipes tend to be grain-free. Many vegan recipes tend to be heavy on grains, such as oats and quinoa. In Cat's Cuisine, you will find that Veggies, Beans and Fats (e.g. cassava flour, lentils, almonds) are favored instead.

Cat's Cuisine Has Unique Recipe Ideas:

* Using pasta, bean and veggie cooking water as electrolyte drinks
* Taking a protein shake and turning it into protein “cookies” * Using beans as the base in protein bars and cookie recipes * Sugar-free coconut kefir and sugar-free reduced caffeine kombucha recipes
* CGS: cooked green smoothie recipes, where you warm up your green smoothie

Wild Q-zine is unique in that it offers recipes that have wild edibles and herbs, such as dandelion leaf, wood sorrel and nasturtium flowers.

Wild Q-zine is also unique in that you will find the same healthy and plant-strong emphasis as Cat's Cuisine. You could say that Wild Q-zine is an off-shoot of Cat's Cuisine, only that "wild" ingredients are used in the recipes.

ALL recipes are tagged with the same 10 acronyms as in Cat's Cuisine, so you can find some interesting recipes that you won't find with common herbal recipes out there, such as:

*Sugar-free recipes using low-cal sweeteners
*Pasta sauce made with rosehips with NO garlic-onions
*Herbal goodies that use gluten-free flours, even protein powders
*Using glycerites (glycerin + herbs) to sweeten no-bake goodies

For cruelty-free, DIY recipes, check the blog DIY Beauty. These are recipe ideas that are simple and cheap to make, using herbs or items from your pantry, to make natural products for face, body and home. These also tend to make nice gifts, so if you are a crafty-type of person, there might be an idea that sparks your fancy. Recipes go from using rose petals to make a face cream (which you can collect OR buy) to making a toilet spray using alcohol and essential oils (this works, by the way :)).

The blog Meditation Techniques has only a few posts, as I've been taken lately to describing such things on my Podcast. My Podcast contains Show Notes, which are only available here on my website (however the Podcasts can be listened to on Spotify, Apple and Google Podcasts, and my YouTube channel as a pod-vid). If there is a meditation technique, it will be included in the Show Notes. Sometimes the Show Notes are a short story which accompany the podcast. The artwork that accompanies the podcast is my own, and is a clue about what the podcast is about. My Podcast is where I share mystical true stories, psychological advice, and spiritual advice.

For health advice on nutrition, check the blog Be Healthy. I write blog post articles on subjects such as fasting, detox, IBS help, vegan help, hypothyroidism help, sugar substitutes, and more. Sometimes the articles are written in a Q & A style, which makes for an interesting read.

I also share health advice and fitness advice, as well as share products I recommend/use (product reviews) on my YouTube Channel.

While not a blog but a page, this is where you can find the current Coaching Services that I am offering.

Interested in my bio? Check the About Cat page. There's also a FAQ page for commonly asked questions. You can also listen to my traumatic background, how I got into psychology and meditation on the podcasts Cat's Story and Beyond Body Dysmorphia.

You can get to know me better on my DAILY VLOG on Instagram (yep, it's a 10 min daily vid!:)
